When you purchase jewelry from Rustique Boheme Jewelry you receive a special little "thank you" gift. These gifts vary from time to time, but I usually include a small sachet of dried lavender buds or some other type of dried herb. You can place the sachet into drawers to lightly scent your clothing, place inside your pillow case, or where ever you would like to add a light calming lavender scent. In today's blog I'm going to share with you another way to use your lavender buds that is easy to do!

There are a few different ways to make "lavender water". You can make hydrosols or hydrolats. This is a method of making botanical water by the distillation of a plant. It is colorless and has a softer scent than a plant essential oil. When hydrosols or hydrolats are made there are many benefits for the mind and body, as well as the skin, but the process in making these, although not impossible, can get complicated and will require a preservative addition. In today's DIY I'm going to share a simple easy way to make a lavender water linen spray that consists of only 4 ingredients and 3 simple steps. Easy enough for you to start on right away!
I hope you've been saving your lavender buds!
The ingredients you'll need...
2 cups distilled water
2 tablespoons vodka or rubbing alcohol
15-20 drops lavender essential oil
Fresh dried lavender to place within the spray bottle
The Prep...
Combine all of the ingredients in a glass or plastic spray bottle (I prefer using glass bottles. I think they work better when using essential oils.)
Shake well and use.
Will keep indefinitely.
The use of alcohol helps dissolve the oil in the solution and preserves the scent. You can spritz the lavender spray on bedding, pillows, or furniture to freshen up just before your guests arrive or use as a relaxing aromatherapy session while you settle down before sleep. Another use is to spray on your sheets as you are ironing. Lavender is a soothing scent that is super relaxing and can assist in a restful nights sleep, while infusing the whole house with a fantastic aroma.
I hope you have fun making this simple DIY spray with your lavender bud gift!
Namaste!
